The Situation 

Transforming Supply Chain Operations Via Supplier Performance Relationship Management Process (SPRM) 

A Fortune 100 company wanted to improve its supply chain operations. As one of the largest privately held companies in the world, it needed a supply chain transformation to streamline operations and drive efficiencies. 

The main focus of this initiative was to focus on digitizing its supplier performance and relationship management process (SPRM). Given the complexity of this initiative and the expedited time frame, the company engaged the consulting firm to leverage its unique expertise in executing similar projects and proven ability to acquire desired outcomes. 

Because the firm was experiencing an uptick for its supply chain enhancement services, it needed to supplement its current workforce to alleviate bandwidth constraints. Due to the nature of this project, the selected candidate would need to have extensive experience standing up: 

  • Supplier relationship management programs
  • Creating the structure and governance model for the program
  • Developing and tracking KPIs

A Supply Chain Transformation Leads to Excellence in Procurement  

A meeting with the independent expert, the firm, and Graphite's customer success team was held before kicking off the project. In that meeting, the independent expert clarified any questions regarding the scope of work. 

Metrics for success, additional materials, meeting cadence, and how payment would be processed and tracked on Graphite were also discussed in the meeting. With the onboarding complete, the independent expert could establish the global SPRM process.

The first order of business was to create a current state and process gap assessment to understand the existing landscape. Using the assessment as a blueprint, the expert developed an SPRM process map, playbook, scorecards, and collaboration workflows. 

Training materials for the pilot launch were also created to ensure the organization's success and adoption of the new process. With the independent change management expert in place to drive the new process, the Fortune 100 company was able to streamline operations and drive efficiencies. 

Since working on Graphite with this initiative, the consulting firm has since gone on to complete two other engagements on the platform.
